Today I was going to cover the French elections and the Macron victory, I may do this another time, but I have been distracted by something far more important and interesting. Those of you kind enough to read my posts, and patient enough to put up with my ravings will be aware that I often refer to our Prime Minister as Glorious Leader May, a mockery, a reference to the Dear Leader, the Respected Leader, The Wise Leader, whatshisname in North Korea. This is because of the steady drive on the part of May and others toward the sort of Banana republic where leader for life presides over a police state that ruthlessly intrudes into every aspect of life and where you can be subject to secret trials, secret sentences and secret punishments. But today something else came along, several something else's and as is becoming increasingly common, parody has become TRUTH and truth has become self parody. This morning I listened to Glorious Leader May giving a speech to the usual room filled with party activists and loyalists and then she permitted the Media to ask a few questions which were mild as usual, presumably the media have been told they will be banned if they ask anything awkward. So Glorious Leader Lay was asked about news stories about NHS staff leaving the NHS and instead stacking shelves in supermarkets because the money was better. Her response left me struck with awe, actual awe, at how arrogant it was and at how stupid she thinks we peasants actually are. When asked about NHS staff getting paid more to stack supermarket shelves: SHE BLAMED LABOUR! You can't make this shit up, the Dailymash, the Onion, the other parody sites, they just cannot compete with the real world these days. SHE BLAMED THE LAST LABOUR GOVERNMENT! That wasn't the last government, or the one before that, she was blaming the fact that NHS staff are leaving the NHS short-handed because they get paid more to stack shelves on the government before the government before the last one. We are presently ruled by Glorious Leader May and her government, it is her cabinet, her policies, her government and has been for nearly a year now. The previous government was under Cameron, voted into power in 2015, the Cameron cabinet under Prime Minister Cameron. The one before that was the Tory / Lib Dem alliance under Prime Minister Cameron with a Tory / Lib Dem Cabinet and. Labour under Brown and before him Blair, that ended in 2010, SEVEN BLOODY YEARS AGO! And yet, she stood before the cameras today and blamed LABOUR for the fact that NHS staff get better working conditions, more stability and better wages working for a supermarket chain doing unskilled work than they get working for a hospital trust in the NHS. Does she actually think we are so stupid that we will believe this, does she think we are so think, so gullible, that we would accept her passing the blame to the mob who were in charge THREE GOVERNMENTS AGO? How much contempt does she have for the electorate that she makes such statements? Or is it more than this. Is it that she is so Arrogant she no longer cares? After months of ruling all but unchallenged by the compliant Media that answers to the same people who donate so much to the Tories has she reached the point where she simply no longer cares. Does she think we are so conditioned, so manipulated, that we are no more than puppets, that she can throw such comments at us and we will not dare to disbelieve? After 7 years she blames Labour without so much as a hesitation. Question is, is she wrong to be so arrogant? I watched her speech and her response to the question this morning. So far the Media coverage of her comment has been an article in the Mirror and I only found that through a Google search since the article wasn't on their web site, or if it was it was further back than the first five pages. So maybe she is right to feel arrogant, maybe she is right to think that our compliant media will simply ignore her comments, after all they ignore her refusal to actually answer questions and don't bother to comment on how tightly stage managed her events are. So, the problems with low pay in the NHS, blame the last labour government. Glorious Leader May said it so it must be the TRUTH. More than this morning we have another sign that Glorious Leader May is well on the way to megalomaniac status, to taking the throne as our Leader for life. It would seem that the whole cult of personality thing is real and not just my mockery.
I joke, I mock, I parody. And yet. Theresa's May's Team, Theresa May's candidate. The person has become more important than the party, the person has replaced the party, the very name Conservative no more than the small print at the bottom of the banners. Is the picture below the future, will we no longer need photoshop to give us this image below ? Vote May, Prime Minister for life, she will be our Strong and Stable Leader. She will rule over us in the national interest. If she says we must suffer austerity for ever so those wonderful corporations can be given more tax cuts, well, she is our Glorious Leader so she knows best. She has become the party. The party is no more, Long Live the Leader. Long live Big Brother, or do we call her Big Sister now? Orwell, you got the date wrong by a few years. |
