media organisation. All the talking heads. Everyone saying the same thing.
Everyone is saying alleged chemical attack and then saying it was Assad, everyone is
pointing fingers and placing the blame. Everyone is sure who did it before we, the
public, have been presented with anything even approaching evidence.
This has been a terrible loss of life but many of the Politicians calling for action against
the Syrian Government have proved many times in the past that we cannot trust what
they say.
In this day and age it is not enough for a politician to say that they have proof, we the
people of this country are going to be dragged into a state of War by these liars in nice suits.
This is not a time for secrets. This is a time for openness and transparency.
The UK and US Governments are far too fond of treating the population as idiots; they
know so we must trust what they say. We are too stupid to understand. We cannot grasp
the complexities; we must be protected from the truth because it is unpleasant.
Bull droppings.
The people of this country have a far better grasp on reality than many of our so called
Political class.
We live in the real world, our friends or neighbours are in the armed forces. We struggle
every day to make ends meet and to put food on our tables. We have priorities and they
are not remotely the same as the expense grabbing, secretive, dishonest politicians.
It will be our friends or neighbours who will be sent into harm’s way by the sabre rattling
and jingoism. It will be our taxes that pay for those million pounds a shot missiles. It will be
our country that finds itself once more staring across borders at the Russian monster or the
Chinese monster.
It will be us looking at the prices of goods in the shops launching skyward.
It will be us looking at the price of fuel going into orbit because the entire Middle East is
destabilising thanks to Iran or Russia defending Syria, Iraq siding with them, Saudi and its allies
forming up against them and that little stretch of water along Iran’s coast where much of our Oil
comes from turning into a mine field or war zone again.
At this moment in the Strait of Hormuz there are drills and anti mine warfare exercises going on,
carried out by a multinational force.
The threat is very real and 30% of the world’s seaborne oil being blocked off by sea mines will send
the price of oil skywards very fast. Anyone remember the last time this was a problem, anyone
remember the “Tanker war” in the 80s. Iran has missiles and mines a lot more advanced than it had
back then and so does Iraq and between them they cover a very large section of the Strait.
It will not be our Leaders who end up suffering because they have pushed the UK into a war.
Never mind who. How about why. Why launch a nerve agent attack?
In case people haven’t been paying attention Assad is winning. Thanks to significant support from
the battle hardened asymmetric war fighters of Hezbollah Assad is pushing the rebels out of places
he wants to control. The areas the rebels control are those Assad seems not to want for now.
Why, now, would he use gas?
Why wait till he is winning to use nerve agents?
Why, in the begining of the rebellion, when he faced defeat after defeat did he not use Gas then?
When his position looked impossible and the end seemed near. Why did he not use gas then?
Why wait until he is winning to use a weapon that would cause the maximum international impact?
Why use Gas when a UN team is in Syria, conveniently close to the attack?
Why conduct a limited gas attack against areas away from the fighting? If you want to kill the enemy
why use gas in areas where there are few combatants.
This gas attack achieves one thing and one thing only. It provides justification for the Warmongers
of the West to attack yet another country in the Middle East. It gives the Jihadists a huge propaganda
victory. Oh no, Assad is evil, he uses nerve gas, everyone join us and destroy him so we can create yet
another Theocratic hell hole.
How many people died in this gas attack, no one knows. Was it more than the hundreds of Kurds that
are known to have been killed by those same Jihadists who are claiming Assad is evil. Was it more than
the Christians, Alawites and others who have been killed by those same Jihadists who are exterminating
anyone who is not a Sunni Muslim.
Russia and China are blocking any UN resolution. Neither country is happy with the blatant aggression
being demonstrated again and again by the West.
How did we reach the point where it is the old Tyrannies like Russia are defending independent
nations and it is the West that is the attacker? It does not matter that Assad rules by as a Tyrant, the men
fighting to replace him will bring in far worse and publicly say so and do so every day.
How has the world turned full circle to the point where it is the nations of the west that are the
warmongers and the invaders rather than the defenders of civilisation against the threat of communist
invasion?
How in three short generations have the descendants of those who pushed back the Nazi’s now come
to replace them as the attackers of weaker nations?
Is this the last dying rage of a once great beast? Trying to prove it is still the most powerful predator.
Determined to look strong and powerful by attacking everything in sight.
Are the leaders of the UK and US acting like global bullies and wanton killers in a vain effort to remain
important on the world stage?
How many will die as a direct or indirect result of the aggression being called for now in the west?
How tiny will the death toll of the gas attacks seem when faced with open war across the Middle East,
the crashing of the world economy caused by the doubling of world oil prices and the starvation and
conflict that will bring?
How will the west killing more people help?
Nothing we do will end the violence, all the west will achieve is a higher death toll and to reduce the
entire region to chaos and anarchy.
The US and the UK are already moving forces around ready for action. The US put an air force control
facility into Jordan months ago, fully equipped to control no fly zone or air strikes against Syria.
Without a UN resolution ANY attack by a western power on Syria will be an act of war. A Nation state
launching military action against another Nation.
Such an action can very easily bring in allies on both sides, spreading the conflict wider and wider.
Russia is providing weapons and air defence to Syria; the US needs to stop this to protect its own aircraft.
How exactly is it going to do that? It will take just one mistake, one badly aimed missile, one Russian or
Chinese ship or aircraft attacked by mistake.
Some of you may be old enough to the cold war years. Some of you may remember those helpful guides
about how to use a table to create a survival bunker in your living room. Some of you may remember
all those “Surviving a Nuclear War” booklets and animations. Leaflets about storing tinned goods and
bottled water in your cellar. What the warning sirens sound like.
Everyone laughed at the Civil Defence booklets.
Here in the 21st century do we really want to see them again.
