They have a spokesman who spends all his time saying that Bingham United are a
peaceful group, that they are happy to meet other fans and discus football with them.
He says Bingham followers are a nice group, friendly and not at all looking for trouble.
In fact, he says, Bingham goes out of its way to prevent trouble.
He says no true follower of Bingham would commit violence in the teams’ name.
He says anyone causing a fight, attacking people, calling for the death of fans of other
teams or otherwise being violent and oppressive is not a proper fan and that people
should not let such behaviour tarnish the Bingham image.
Standing nearby is a large group of the teams fans.
Several of them are throwing rocks and Molotov’s at nearby police while chanting the
teams name.
A group of Bingham followers have found a follower of another team; they have
already attacked him and beaten him to the ground. They are standing around him
and telling him that unless he becomes a follower of Bingham they will keep beating
him, they will burn down his home and club house, they will go after his family and
make his life hell.
Another group of Bingham fans are standing in front of TV cameras. They are
proclaiming to the world that Bingham will destroy all other team and kill all other
players.
That those who follow other teams are inferior and will be forever relegated to the
lowest level of the league where it's very hot unless they follow Bingham.
One of them is saying that Bingham as the best team has the right to set the rules and
laws that all teams must follow and that the followers of other teams who wear team
clothing that has not been approved by Bingham will be punished.
Several more followers of Bingham are putting up posters saying that Bingham rules
this town and that anyone who breaks the rules according to Bingham will be
punished. These rules are rather extensive and certainly seem to involve a number of
things that are used to be lawful in this town.
A small group of Binghams are harassing a woman across the road, something about
her not wearing the approved Bingham hat and scarf.
Some Bingham followers are chasing a young man down the road, he told a poor joke
about an old manager at Bingham and they are not happy. One could say they look
murderous.
At the end of the road are a small group of women, judging by the way they are dressed
they are followers of another team. The Binghams are threatening them. A man steps in
to defend them, by his dress he follows the same team that the women do.
Oh. The Binghams have dragged him into the road and killed him. They even invited the
Bingham children to watch.
By the lamppost is a man who had left the team, he had chosen to follow another team.
When I say he is by the lamppost I mean he is hanging from the lamppost with a rope
around his neck while a few Bingham followers look on and laugh. No one leaves
Bingham they are saying.
The spokesman is still busy saying that Bingham is a peaceful team and has nothing but
love and respect for the followers of other teams.
Sadly the town mayor and council are listening to the spokesman and have turned their
backs on the actions of the large group of Bingham followers. They hang onto every word
spoken about peace and respect while ignoring every action of violence and disrespect
performed behind them.
Were a football team to behave like this it would draw immediate attention from the media
and politicians. They would say that the spokesman is a fool or a liar, that the actions of
the team are clear to see and that they are obviously not interested in peace or respect
for other teams.
The spokesman would be mocked and scorned for spreading blatantly false propaganda.
The crimes and atrocities of the team would be in every paper and on every screen to show
the weasel words of the spokesman for the falsehoods that they are.
But why is it when a religion behaves like this everyone ignores the actions of the followers
and instead acts as if the spokesman is speaking the gospel truth.
