He has been in front of the TV crews explaining his new ideas. Making all PCs opt in
to access pornography which is legal. Forcing the major search engine companies to
run key word blacklists or he will impose Laws to make them. Giving organisations
new powers to access the internet to hunt for images of child abuse.
Are the people who advise the PM idiots? Does the PM not listen to advice from people
who have a clue? Does the PM not care?
The Internet is a vast digital ocean. The major search engines operate on the surface.
Child abusers operate in the depths out of sight. There are reputed to be literally
hundreds of smaller search engines, hundreds of anonymiser sites, thousands of
covert web sites that never show up on Google.
Everything “Call me Dave” has so far mentioned to prevent child abuse online is
laughable to anyone with even a basic understanding of the Internet.
Nothing he has spoken of will even slow down online porn of any type. All it will do
is make it a bit harder for people not familiar with the Internet to access “Legal”
pornography.
This is simply round twenty three of the government trying to impose its control over
the wild frontier. Child abuse is simply the latest excuse. This isn’t about protecting
children this is about bullying the big internet companies to make them submit to
government controls.
After all what company can resist when it’s "to Protect Children”. Anyone who says
no is going to get smeared by a government led campaign to make them look like
absolute scum. Say yes and the government has its hooks in your business.
Pictures are not the problem, adults abusing children are the problem.
Want to cut down on child abuse. Go into the communities, Mosques and churches
and explain to them in short precise words that the abuse of children is wrong and
will be punished.
Then start rounding up the community members and priests who are abusing children
and drop them into deep dark holes.
When the PM called on Mosques and Imams to step in and help him 500 did so and
agreed to a sermon against child abuse.
This is less than a third of the UK mosques. In what sort of a crazy world is the refusal
of two thirds of the UKs mosques to oppose child abuse considered a victory. Such
sermons should be every week in every church and mosque.
Everything Cameroon is talking about on line will not reduce the problem one iota.
Lighting a fire under the police and social services so they stop letting multi
culturalism, diversity or fear of religious discrimination claims stop them from doing
their jobs when children are reporting directly to them that they are being abused
will achieve far greater results.
Censoring the internet will achieve nothing. The problem is underground and will not
be touched. The vast majority of the population on the other hand are at far greater
risk of being cut off from any information the government decides is “Bad” for them.
What “Dave” is doing and trying to do is a smoke screen. It will do nothing to deal with
the problem while at the same time presenting the idea that the government is
dealing with the problem so please go on about your business.
Nothing to see here, the government is in charge.
When the key words expand to include “Pedophile”, “Child Abuse”, “Underage Sex”
and other such words then you will find that you can no longer search online articles
and news reports about such things happening. When a newspapers headline
“Pedophile arrested for Child Abuse” is blocked by the search engines then how are
we to know that there is still a problem or that anything is being done about it?
This is all about control. Once the major search engines have been bullied into obeying
orders and are running sort engine blacklists based on key words provided by the
government I doubt it will be long before words and phrases like “MP expense scandal”,
“Government abuse”, “ATOS”,“illegal government seizure” and many more will be added.
Probably the government will want to be updating the keyword blacklist directly and bypass
those annoying techs who know what they are doing and who could talk about it.
Child abuse is an abomination. This doesn’t stop our Prime Minister taking advantage of it to push through his political
agenda.
