considered to be in Food Poverty.
Something that I keep coming across is that aside from the Trussell Trust there doesn’t
seem to be anything other than a guess as to how many are in receipt of food charity.
Half a million, over 500,000. Never a solid figure
Given that Trussell report 370,000 odd people and that the general figure of 500,000 this
means that the independent organisations, churches, charities, food banks, soup kitchens,
local and region councils and many more organisations provide for 130,000.
What I would like to do is get an idea of the numbers of people who are helped by everyone
other than the Trussell Trust since I feel that the stated number is lower than reality.
To this end I would like everyone who can to share this with their friends and ask those friends
to share it on.
I am asking that anyone who finds themselves with a little spare time helps by looking at local
food banks and food charities. The information I am looking for is as follows:
Name. The official business name.
Town or City.
County.
Contact information. Email, website, phone number.
People fed. How many people in total they feed over a year. Not the number of meals but the
number of individual people they help.
Other details. What sort of organisation they are, charity, soup kitchen, food bank, meals on
wheels etc and any other details that you think may be if use.
The reason for this level of detail is that I want to be in a position to back up my article with facts
in case it is challenged as being hearsay.
If you have a few minutes of time, if you know of a local
organisation that tries to provide food to those who are going hungry then can
you note the details above and get them back to me. Facebook, Twitter or
comments under this blog article.
Many thanks.
