to refuse to serve customers on religious grounds.
Muslim staff are now allowed to refuse to deal with customers who are buying alcohol or pork.
Such customers are to be moved to another till or another member of staff.
So the demands of a handful of religious observers now takes precedent over the requirements
of hundreds of thousands of customers.
Want to buy pork or bacon or beer or wine.
You have to join that queue over there; you are no longer allowed to use these tills because the
staff there are offended by your purchases.
Charming.
What next. Will these same stores soon be banning the sale of pork products and alcohol to
avoid offending their staff? How about banning other things, are there Catholics working at your
store, start banning contraceptives. Don’t believe in God, sorry not allowed to shop here because
some of our staff are offending by the presence of non believers.
But you say, all that happens is the customers are moved to another till or another member of
staff will come to deal with them.
So the customer is made to wait, or asked to move to another till that already has a queue. Delayed
or made to feel embarrassed.
Why should customers be discriminated in this way because a few members of staff have problems
with living in the world that is NOT according to the words of their invisible deity.
Since when did Alcohol or pork become illegal?
You want to discriminate against me as a customer because I want to buy Bacon. BACON!
Why in the 21st century are we bending over backwards and twisting our lives and our freedoms to
suite the demands of a handful of people who think that their own personal religious beliefs give them
the right to force changes on the rest of us.
I don’t care what your religion is.
No one has the right to discriminate against me buying BACON!
Aside from the stupidity of doing this it is just another act that serves to isolate Muslims form the
rest of society. Far too many Extremists of every religion seek to maintain control over their
followers by isolating them and this is exactly the sort of behaviour by society that supports this.
Instead of explaining to these staff that the JOB is to sell things to the customers and those things
include Alcohol and pork the Stores are instead making it more difficult for customers to buy those
products.
We live in a society with significant unemployment, a lot of people are chasing a handful of jobs.
So if people refuse to actually do the job they were hired to do, as in selling to customers, surely
there are more than enough people looking for work to replace them.
I truly believe that a person should have the freedom to believe in whatever faith they wish, or to
behave how they wish in private.
But in public NO religion has the right to impose its beliefs on others in any way whatsoever.
Believe in whatever faith you wish
BUT DO NOT TRY TO STOP ME BUYING BACON!
