Going to cover a few things from the last week, not able to focus in depth on one thing. NATO reinforcing its garrisons on the Russian borders with more men, more tanks, more guns / bombs / shells and kitchen sinks. Because Russia is threatening the Baltic states and is an expansionist warmongering empire bent on world domination, or is that America, I get those two mixed up. Russia is not happy about having NATO troops building up on its borders and within strike range of Moscow, which is understandable, remember the US response to the Cuba crisis when the Soviets tried to put missiles on Cuba, in range of the US. The most stupid talking head comment on this was, not surprisingly from Sky News who said that NATO was only putting troops along a small part of Russia’s immense border so there was no cause for alarm, which is a bit like you calling the police because there are drug dealers with guns selling drugs outside your house and the police telling you not to worry as they are only selling drugs from just one corner and aren’t all round the house. Marmite price increase panic seems to have calmed a little though some supermarkets have raised prices so I’m sure everyone else will as well, just when the media is looking elsewhere. I have friends who for some unknown reason like the foul stuff and have been stockpiling it, one person I used to think was reasonably sane and intelligent is buying it in 1 Kilo tubs, so clearly not that sane or intelligent anymore and while I don’t have problems with being insane, buying 1 KILO tubs of Marmite, seriously. Yuck. Of course no one is talking about what will happen when shops and companies pass over the full drop in the pound and everyone’s weekly shop and bills jump by 25% +. After all, we import loads and what we don’t import is going up in cost because, well, corporate profits and greed. Spain refusing to allow Russian naval vessels to refuel at an North African port. Wow, diplomacy in action. I know the media and NATO have been working hard to paint Russia as the great threat we have to defend against but, seriously, no you can’t refuel in this port, no you can’t play with my toys, go away. Spain and by extension NATO telling Russia that it’s ships are not welcome in a North African port controlled by Spain and NATO, way to try and ease the tension people, how petty can you get. No, not petty. Childish. Trump got something of a boost after lagging a little in the polls when the FBI announced they were reopening an investigation into ‘THE EMAILS’, interesting timing from several angles. Firstly it balances the polls out nicely, makes the election less certain again and muddying the waters which probably suits all sorts of people. Secondly the FBI are clearly sending a message here, which means the Department of Justice and homeland security are as well, not sure what the message is but I’m sure Hilary Clinton understands it. US is withdrawing all diplomatic staff and families from Turkey, due to threats from radical groups in that country promising to kill Americans. No mention of ordinary Americans being told to leave though, interesting that. Were I paranoid and given that Russia is ordering it’s officials to send their families home I would suspect that they were getting their people away from areas where the fighting will be when the war starts in six months or so. Oh wait, I am paranoid. Tories and various right wing scumbags and lick spittle’s attacking film. Jumping up in the media to describe Ken Loach's new film as false, misleading, biased, worst case scenario, untrue, inaccurate and doesn’t reflect reality. Which is odd because everyone I know who had found themselves at the mercy of the DWP and the benefit system have all said it DOES reflect the very real situations they find themselves in. Speaking from personal experience I have to say the system is an utter nightmare, the DWP is a crushing monolithic organisation designed to force people off benefits through indifference, cruelty, a tortuous and deliberately deceptive system of questions and examinations and tricking people into condemning themselves into sanctions by admitting to breaking rules they never knew existed. It’s almost as if the people condemning the film never seem to have been unemployed or signed on with the DWP and those supporting it have firsthand knowledge of how it accurately reflects the cruelty of the Department of Workless Persecution. Funny that. Nissan has agreed to stay in the UK and actually build two new cars here. The government is touting this as a clear sign that things will be OK and that Britain will boom after Brexit. British car manufacturing is safe, the future is rosy. Of course the exact contents of a letter hand delivered to the board of Nissan isn’t being revealed and reports that the UK government offered a deal where tax payer money would be used to compensate for any tariffs imposed on British built cars sold overseas after we leave the EU and single market are roundly denied by the same government. Now we wait for all the other car manufacturers who build cars in the UK and then import them to jump on this bandwagon, and demand they also get the secret deal that isn’t, at all, anything to do with the tax payers coughing up cash to compensate for export costs. No word yet about anyone other than car manufacturers but I imagine everyone else is taking notes and will be lining up with their hands out for their bribes in due time. Big UK banks may be relocating their Headquarters next year. Panic, the city is jumping ship before Brexit happens. Though given that even the Three horsemen of chaos and Brexit don’t seem to have a clue what Brexit actually means this could be a good idea or a bad move. Still given that the government may well have bribed Nissan to stay in the UK I expect the big banks to be getting a huge drop in corporation tax in the next budget. Indication number 741 that World War 3 is on the way and the middle east is going to be one of the areas (along with eastern Europe) that will be devastated by the fighting and carved up by the winners. Mr T Blair, ex PM of some little island of the top of Europe is apparently maneuvering for a return to politics instead of his rather well paid role of the last few years as middle eastern envoy for bullshit and pocketing backhanders. His efforts seem to be focused both on taking on a position within the British political system for the next few years and as a senior figure within the European establishment for after Brexit if everything goes tits up. His previously well paid role in the generally sandy oil nations of that region had become very quiet of late and it seems he is either reading the tea leaves or he's in on the plan as he certainly seems to be jumping that ship before it goes down. War bonds to be released in 2017, all patriotic citizens will be required to purchase them and all mainstream media organisations, in addition to publishing the pictures, name and addresses of foreigners will be publishing the same information on any lefties, traitors, commies and other such scum who refuse to do their patriotic duty. So anyone who wants to pop round and express mild discontent with the dirty foreigner still being in the UK or with the dirty stinking traitor are able to do so. Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean it won't happen. |
