women and children who are being driven onto the streets and left to the care of charities.
We have a handful of useful idiots, sorry prominent business leaders who have taken the stage to
defend ever lower wages and to insult and demonise the British for being lazy while ignoring figures
that report that Seven Million British workers are officially in poverty despite having those jobs they
are described as too lazy to take.
On the other side we have a slowly building number of media organisations and prominent figures
and organisations who have spotted blood in the water and are speaking up.
It’s a great shame that many of these opportunists did not raise their voices a year or more ago, how
much suffering could have been prevented, but that would require them to actually care about people
rather than trying to score points by jumping on a bandwagon.
Many people are now pointing fingers at IDS, the incarnation of cruelty in a political party known for
being cruel.
His many victims are named again and again, the dead, the impoverished, the crippled and disabled,
the hungry and the young. His every crime is highlighted in detail and the more he denies what he has
done and is doing the more people stand up and bear witness against him.
Yet nothing changes.
Every day thousands of people are subject to the Inquisition of ATOS and other organisations like it and
are denied the help they desperately need on the most insulting of grounds, did you come here by bus,
well them you can get a job, benefits cancelled.
Every day thousands of people turn to agencies like the job centre looking for help they want and need,
to find the jobs they are so desperate to find. Every day they meet people who cannot or will not help
them because there are no jobs or because they do not care or even because they have been told to
kick as many people as possible off benefits.
Every day tens of thousands of people face the shame of going to charities such as food banks simply to
put food on the family table.
Every day as winter draws closer and the weather gets ever colder millions must make a choice between
turning on the heating for a short time or having a little money to do something other than pay the fuel
bill.
Above and behind all of this suffer sits a monster. The sort of beast that in novel and film would be slain
by a hero determined to save his or her people from further suffering.
Dickens wrote about this monster. You can find his caricature in stories and tales everywhere you look.
This monster wears a human face and walks on two legs but he is none the less responsible for more
human suffering and cruelty that, I think, anyone in British history since the second world war.
Nothing any other political leader has done begins to approach the short and long term harm done by
this smiling beast.
Yet nothing changes.
If anything it continues to get worse.
He is released from his cage in the cabinet offices to stand before his critics and deny he has done
anything wrong, his lies and falsehoods have become legion and those who follow his orders because
they care more for their jobs than they do for the suffering they knowingly cause are many indeed.
Then we hear of yet another failure, yet more wasted money, yet another idea or plan that will fight
the threat of benefit fraud which while deplorable makes up such a tiny part of benefits as a whole.
How much has been thrown away so far that could have been used to feed the hunger or warm the cold.
How many more bright ideas will we hear of over the next year that we know will collapse into costly
disasters or serve to spread the suffering over yet more people.
Yet nothing changes.
I had a thought this morning.
One of those odd ideas that pop up, like a light going on inside my head.
Suddenly it made sense, suddenly Mr Ian Duncan Smiths Teflon coating made sense.
Suddenly I could see why Cameron is supporting him and keeping him in place.
There are millions of people who still draw benefits, millions who are considered nothing more
than a drain on the national coffers by the nasty party.
Millions more people to be kicked off disability support.
Millions still drawing jobseekers who can be pushed off that scheme for some flimsy excuse.
Millions on support, millions who receive housing support or medical support or any other form of
support.
Remember that for all too many being forced off benefits leaves them paying for medicines they may
need to live, it leaves them with bills and costs that may be all that allows them a life but which they
are now forced to pay.
A single prescription charge of £7 may not seem like much but when you are at the level where food
or fuel becomes a real choice you are forced to make vital medication may become something you
can no longer afford.
So here we are. So much left undone by the nasty party. So many people yet to be subject to the cruel
and inhuman attitude that is the modern Tory party.
There is no compromise, no half way, nothing done to ease the suffering.
Only the dubious prospect of the Incompetent party stepping in in 2015.
So what was my thought, what did the light bulb say.
IDS is a patsy, a whipping boy. A sacrifice.
He is the front man and the figure head for everything that the Tories are doing that will cost them
votes and turn people against them.
Every act of cruelty, IDS has his name on it.
Every report about people being driven into the streets, about people going cold or hungry, there is the
face of IDS.
The Tory party, the Coalition Cabinet, packed full of uncaring people serving their own political agendas
and lining their own pockets regardless of the cost to the population.
Corruption is endemic, fraud, bribes, expense claims, these have become so commonplace it now takes
something special to make the news.
Yet who is the monster, who is the face of Tory and Coalition evil?
Who is the poster boy of inhumanity?
Who is the name on everyone's lips when it comes to cruelty?
That would be The Right Honorable Ian Duncan Smith.
The villain of this term. The man everyone loves to boo and curse.
A man whose deeds can single handedly cost the Tories the next election.
And yet a man who can be used to fool so many into believing that Cameron and his cronies care, that
they have finally noticed the suffering and are taking steps to help.
Next year brings the lead up to the 2015 Election.
What better act to cast aside all those claims of nasty and cruel than by publicly sacking the face of that
cruelty.
IDS is going to be sacrificed on the altar of politics in an effort to fool the gullible and bring voters back
to the Tories.
Vote for Cameron, he sacked the beast of the DWP.
Vote Tory, they put a stop to the monsters cruelty.
Vote Conservative, they will promise to reverse all the evil done in their name by IDS.
Six to eight months before the election when the Tories need a huge boost the beast will be hunted
down and offered up as sacrifice to appease the masses.
But until then he will be left to spread suffering to as many people as possible by his boss and by his
party, who will drive his cruelty on to new depths knowing that he is removing what they consider to
be a problem.
So another year before he is fed to the sharks.
